Our Founder

Dr. Krzysztof Rodzen is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Ulster University from 2021. In 2022, he founded his own Additive Manufacturing Start-Up: New Dimension 3D, which offers a novel approach to the 3D printing process with adjustable mechanical performance and thermal and chemical resistance. This was made possible through the development of the OPTM Series printer, which utilizes Proportional PWM SSR v2.0 technology, allowing for the assignment of temperature to the printed layer. New Dimension 3D offering Additive Manufacturing services with a wide range of thermoplastic materials, from commodity plastics to engineering and advanced materials, as well as their composites. New Dimension 3D also provides designing and redesigning services and customizes 3D printers to meet the individual needs of clients.

He received his MSc degree in Chemical Technology from Rzeszów University of Technology in Poland in 2012, and then participated in the UNESCO/IUPAC Postgraduate Course in Polymer Science organized by the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry in Czech Republic. He graduated with a PhD in Macromolecular Chemistry from Charles University in Prague in 2017, during which he was involved in a number of projects related to polymer synthesis, including:

  • synthesis of pH- and temperature-responsive hydrogels for protein separation
  • preparation and characterization of novel polymeric nanocomposites for boron neutron capture therapy
  • production of SiOC ceramic foam for thermally stable composite sandwich structures
  • development of reversible crosslinked rubbers containing liquid crystals

In 2017, he joined Ulster University as a Research Associate in two industrial-based projects focused on:

  • Rapid Tooling
  • Processing and Characterization of Thermoplastic Polymers

and involved collaboration with industry partners such as Bombardier, DATUM, Rockwell Collins, Denroy Plastics, and Causeway Sensor. The projects aimed to utilize production reground CF/PEEK and ESD/PEEK for additive manufacturing, produce ready-made tools and molds for injection molding via AM, develop prototype plasmonic affinity biosensors via additive manufacturing techniques, modify and develop resin for vat polymerization, and automation.
